A home for stories,
heritage & the art of return.

Fanous brings together a cultural foundation and an independent film house — reviving spaces, memory, and the people who keep them alive.

What is Fanous

Two arms, one purpose: to keep cultural life burning where it’s most at risk.

Like the lantern it’s named for, Fanous exists to carry light — through the restoration of endangered heritage and through the films that hold our collective memory.

A House of Life for Art, Heritage & Collective Memory in Old Damascus

A multidisciplinary arts and heritage initiative centred on the restoration of a 200-year-old Damascene house — transforming it, room by room, into a living cultural space for residencies, workshops, screenings, and collective memory.

Do you know what it means for a person to live in a bottle of perfume? Our house was that bottle.
